Editorial Reviews

Jon Kyl, U.S. Senator, Chairman, Subcommittee on Technology, Terrorism and Government information
"Thank you for your testimony of May 20 as an advocate on behalf of victims of identity theft. Your detailed account of the impact of identity theft on consumers was compelling, especially in light of the extensive number of individuals to whom you have provided pro bono help. I also want to thank you for your support of my identity theft legislation, and your specific comments explaining the benefits of S. 512 to victims. Such testimony has been exceedingly helpful in providing the foundation for seeking broad-based Congressional support."

Judd A. Levenson, Detective - Major Crimes/Frauds Unit, Springfield Police Department "Your book is fantastic for aiding the victim in the credit nightmare to come when they attempt to clear up credit problems which results in a daily dreading of opening mail and receiving phone calls from the various collection agencies. Your book also greatly assists the victim in coping with the mind numbing realization of how easy a company believes the impersonator and how difficult this same business becomes when dealing with the identity fraud victim."

Reader from Idaho
Excellent revision of his first book on privacy, also called It's None of Your Business. Very clear and easy to get the information you need. Practical advice that can be implemented right away without spending a fortune. Shows the reader how to protect their assets, their family, and their personal information from credit thieves, hackers, and the lawsuit happy public. Has an excellent section on computers and the Internet. Also explains the advantages of offshore entities and trusts in layman's language. Great resource section at the end.

It's None of Your Business is a practical book, full of insight into how the system works to spy on ordinary citizens. It reveals how the government, large and small businesses, the insurance and medical industries, and a whole range of other organizations regularly compile dossiers on everyone. This data is then sliced, diced, and sold in a million different ways to the highest bidder. Very little control is given to the normal consumer over his important personal documentation...

Book Description
Identity Theft is now one of the fastest growing serious crimes! Over 1,000+ per day become new victims, and the crime is costing $ Billions per year. Yet, in many jurisdictions, identity theft per se is not a crime, and nationally there are few prosecutions. The result is that thousands of criminals are ripping-off the identities of others with impunity, and getting rich and committing crimes in the process! Details on how ID theft occurs, the myriad of ways that ID thieves benefit from their crimes ranging from taking out free loans and life insurance policies on their victims to hiding from crimes and acts of terrorism. Includes "agent doubles." Plus countermeasures. ID theft has many more facets to it than the few snippets you see in the news. Sold for legal educational and entertainment purposes only.

Privacy isn't all it's made out to be, says George Washington University scholar Amitai Etzioni. "Without privacy no society can long remain free," he writes, but our communities also have other goals that sometimes must override the privacy imperative. "Should the FBI be in a position to crack the encrypted messages employed by terrorists before they use them to orchestrate the next Oklahoma City bombing?" he asks. Etzioni's answer is a resounding "yes," and he applies similar logic to a number of areas. He believes, for example, that newborn babies should undergo HIV tests without parental consent because they could benefit from immediate treatment, even though mothers worried about personal revelations might object. He also supports the various sorts of "Megan's laws" that try to protect society against sex offenders.

Book Description
Want to take advantage of the latest technology without being taken advantage of? In this eye-opening guide, Michael Chesbro (Privacy for Sale) shows how the average American's personal and business e-mail can be read in more than a dozen places between the time it's sent and the time it's received, how marketers and other snoops can find out which Web sites you visit (not to mention such private information as your IP address, e-mail address, geological location, and the type of computer you're using), and how the government is working toward limiting your right to use encryption. Chesbro then tells you everything you need to know about safely and anonymously surfing the Internet, setting up encrypted e-mail easily, creating an uncrackable password, understanding unbreakable encryption programs such as PGP (Pretty Good Privacy), sending e-mail through remailer services to disguise the source and securely deleting or hiding files on your home computer to safeguard your private records from seizure.
